Illustrated portrait of Fred.

Fred Zinn

Fred Zinn is a visual thinker and unrepentant doodler who wishes he could go back and suggest to his middle school self that drawing cartoons of what the teacher is saying (instead of another troll) would help him learn more and get into trouble less (and “Look out! She just asked you a question.”) Officially, Fred is Associate Director of Digital Learning at the UMass Amherst College of Education where he focuses on instructional use of technologies, data visualization, and instructional graphic design. As a cartoonist, Fred’s work has appeared in a variety of publications, instructional materials, and as a life-size spooky diorama on his porch every October.
